This, my friends, is the marzipaniest tea I’ve ever had in my whole life. The packaging warns that the tea “may contain traces of nuts”, and you would do well to heed that warning if you are, in any way, nut averse. Bird & Blend appear to have constructed a tea blend which is at least 130% almond while still managing to fit in some other things. The other ingredients are Ceylon black tea, Japanese roasted green tea and cinnamon, and they are all putting in some sterling work here.
The level of almondiness in this brew is quite remarkable and utterly bonkers (in the best possible way). Teamongers, I salute you for committing so wholeheartedly to your almond tea vision.
I enjoyed this tea hot with a splash of milk. I really wished I had some almond-based snacks to go with it for a fully immersive almond experience. For my next cup I shall ensure that I have a stash of almond fingers, Bakewell tarts or those Italian peach stone biscuits that totally tastes like almond, even though they’re not really.
In fact, I may also douse myself in almond oil and wear a homemade almond fancy dress costume made out of papier mache. I am no longer content merely to drink the almond. I want to be the almond. I will truly be at one with my almondisity.
