About Me

Hello!

Do you like tea? Do you like drinking tea? If you answered ‘yes’ to both those questions, then this is the website for you! (And if you answered ‘yes’ to one of these questions and ‘no’ to the other one, I would be really interested to know how that works.)

My name is Em and I’m a tea fancier. It’s like being a pigeon fancier, but less pigeon-y and more tea-y. My enthusiasm for tea is unbridled. (I tried bridling it, but it got messy.) This website is an attempt to channel my excessive tea consumption into something vaguely constructive.

I regularly review different varieties of tea here. Black tea, green tea, rooibos, matcha, herbal-nonsenses-that-aren’t-really-teas, they all have a place. Although I may be quite rude about some of them.

These reviews are absolutely in no way objective. While I am an open-minded individual in all other walks of life, when it comes to tea, I have some strong opinions. If you think I’ve been unfair in marking down a tea because it contains Lapsang Souchong, liquorice, or you know, no actual tea, then please feel free to vehemently disagree with me in the comments section.

I also wander off the subject quite a bit, but I like to think that that just recreates the experience of drinking tea with me.

I’m delighted to have you here. Let’s stick the kettle on shall we?

(Note: In June 2022, I became a vegan. (I mentioned it in my review of Teapigs’ Rooibos Crème Caramel.) This means that in any reviews after that date where I’m talking about the advisability (or not) of adding milk to a tea blend, I’m actually referring to soybean-based vegan milk substitute rather than actual milk from cows. I stopped making this explicit fairly early on because I couldn’t be arsed to keep saying it.)
