Bird & Blend Advent Calendar Day 13 – Salted Caramel Lebkuchen

Regular readers will already know how very fond I am of teas that are pretending to be bakery products. We’ve already had Panettone and Banana Bread in the last couple of days and both were lovely. (I’m not counting Christmas Cranberry Pie because that was just a generic fruit tea with no discernible pie-ness.)

Salted Caramel Lebkuchen is my absolute favourite faux-baked-goods-item so far.

It’s warm, spicy, sweet and biscuity. It tastes like a German Christmas market. It makes me want to don a woolly hat and gloves and drink in a freezing cold field while forking out £10 a pop for some handmade organic soaps.

I love Lebkuchen. A few Christmasses ago, I made some mini stollen along with the mince pies. I had this notion that every year I would make a ‘guest Christmas treat’ from another country. I then completely forgot all about this idea. But if I were to revive it, I think Lebkuchen would be top of the list. Or I could just serve this tea to people instead.
