This is the second T2 tea I have tried from their Baxter’s Bakery range. Before I embark on reviewing the tea itself, I want to heap some praise on the packaging.
Inside the super cute shopfront-style main box, each tea comes in a little cardboard box with an opening and closing mechanism, the likes of which I’ve never seen before. It has a sort of roundy petally design, which just pops out and then satisfyingly closes again into its original shape. It’s clearly been manufactured using some kind of origami-style wizardry and I lack the words to describe it properly, or to google it and find out if it is a recognised thing.
But look how pretty it is!
I’m not saying you should buy these teas based purely on the shape of the boxes, but, well, I am kind of saying that.
Banana Bake is a deliciously banana-y cakey tea. There are fluffy-light banana shreds in here, as well as hazelnuts and marigold petals. I don’t think I fully appreciated before quite how many cake-based teas there are in the world. Personally, I’m all for it. I’m not that big a fan of bananas as a rule (except for a brief period in the 1990s when I was pregnant and couldn’t get enough of them). Banana bread has always been okay with me though.
At the beginning of these crazy lockdown times (Was there really a beginning to it? Haven’t we been living like this forever?) making banana bread became quite the national obsession. I regret to say that I haven’t made a single loaf of banana bread during the pandemic. And now I don’t need to! Because quite frankly, T2 provides everything one could want from a banana-based bakery treat right here. And it’s even easier to make! You just need to stick the kettle on.
Today’s featured book is Charles Darwin’s On The Origin Of Species because you know, bananas, monkeys, evolution. It all makes sense.
