Good & Proper – Assam
I’ve said it before, and I will no doubt say it again, but Assam teas are the hardest teas to review. It’s tricky to think of something to say about a straight-down-the-line black number without sounding like Gag Halfrunt, Zaphod Beeblebrox’s private brain care specialist. “Vell, Good & Proper Assam’s just zis tea, you know?”
This isn’t in any way a criticism of Good & Proper and their Assam leaves. This tea is exceptionally good. I can’t believe I have been missing out on Good & Proper’s wares for so long. They are a purveyor of no-nonsense, top-quality, single-estate teas. And by golly, you can tell.
This is everything that is wonderful about a nice cup of tea and yet it’s very difficult to say much about it that isn’t just me going “mmmmm” and possibly at the end of it all, “ahhhh”.
Today’s book pairing is Putting The Tea In Britain by Les Wilson.
