Bird & Blend Advent Calendar Day 2 – Mulled Cider
Yesterday I expressed a wish that my Bird & Blend Advent tea calendar would have some tea in it today. And, sadly, the Spirits of Christmas Tea-type Beverages did not heed my wishes. Today we have Mulled Cider, which is not only another fruity tisane but also contains FOUR (Count ’em!) of the same ingredients as yesterday’s Christmas Cranberry Pie.
Apple, rosehip, hibiscus and cinnamon all put in a reappearance. There is also ginger and cloves in this one and, hey, it’s got lemon peel so that changes things up a bit from yesterday’s orange peel.
Basically, if you didn’t like yesterday’s tea, you’re not going to like this one. And, well, I didn’t like yesterday’s tea.
Every little teabag box in the calendar comes with a ‘Daily Act of Happiness’. Yesterday’s was: “Posted a handwritten note to someone you care about”. Today it’s “Smile and say ‘hello’ to everyone you see today”, which frankly is a lot more likely to happen. I’ll be working from home today so the only people I’ll see are my cats, my parents and possibly an Amazon delivery driver. And I’m pretty sure smiling and saying ‘hello’ is something I do anyway.
I feel sorry for any Bird & Blend advent-urers out there who work in busy offices or travel by public transport or go to a supermarket today. They are going to have their work cut out for them.
We’re two lacklustre herbal ‘teas’ in and I’m a bit lacking in ‘Cupfuls of Happiness’ right now, but I remain optimistic. Bird & Blend make some of the best teas in the whole world. (I refer you to their Great British Cuppa and Chocolate Digestives teas. So I feel confident that tomorrow will bring something that will totally knock my fluffy, festive socks off.
