The Tournament You’ve Been Waiting For!

I have exciting news! You may have noticed that there is a whole European-y Football-y Championship-y thing going on at the moment. But nobody’s REALLY interested in all that kicking-a-ball-about business, are they?

I have devised a far more exciting alternative competition which will be taking place here for the next three weeks:

The TF Tea Cup Championships 2021!

Sixteen different teas will compete in a nail-biting knockout tournament. At the end of which, one tea will be declared the winner and will earn themselves a coveted place as a regular on my tea shelf.

The entry requirements for TFTCC21 are as follows:

  • Basic ‘English Breakfast’ or ‘Everyday’ type blends only. No fancying things up with vanilla or bergamot or whatnot.
  • All competing teas are teabags rather than loose-leaf in order to maintain a level playing field.

Play starts later today! Below is a list of all sixteen teas which will be competing in the first round. Pick your favourite now! Feel free to start a high-stakes betting pool amongst yourselves and show your support for your favoured tea with fetching home-made banners and brand-colour-inspired facepaint.

  1. Bird & Blend Great British Cuppa
  2. Dorset Teas Sunshine Blend
  3. Yorkshire Gold
  4. Brew Tea Co English Breakfast
  5. Whittard English Breakfast
  6. Teapigs Everyday

  1. I absolutely love your bracket sheet! It reminds me of March madness for basketball here in the states. Only this is a bracket I would actually love to bet on. I will need to order a round of your winner. Also, this should be done for the best Earl Grey. Anytime I try a new Cafe or brand I usually get their Earl Grey and judge them based off their Earl’s performance.

    • Thank you! The scoresheet is a European Championship one nicked from footballing website FourFourTwo. I have no interest in football though hence why I took it upon myself to conduct a tea-drinking equivalent. I’m a huge Earl Grey fan and totally relate to judging a teamonger based on their ability to put together a good Earl Grey blend.
