Yawn Advent Calendar Day 24 – Ruby Amaretto
Happy Christmas, everyone! In a potentially controversial decision, Yawn have opted for a rooibos for the last window of their mostly black tea-themed advent calendar. It is an absolute corker, though. This is my favourite rooibos advent blend.
Ruby Amaretto contains rooibos, cornflowers, calendula, safflower and natural flavours. And those natural flavours taste entirely of almond. It’s the almondiest thing I’ve had this year. It’s like drinking a block of marzipan. Which, frankly, would be my idea of a really good time. (And yes, I know that Amaretto booze and biscuits are made with peach stones, not almonds. But I stand by what I just said.)
Yawn’s Tea Explorer advent calendar has been a lot of fun. Sure, the bottom six teas on the list got the Tea Fancier thumbs down but most of those were herbal nonsenses, for which I am very much not the target market. There are a few “perfectly fine but nothing special” brews, but in the final analysis, a whopping 14 of these advent teas were with Really Great or Totes Amazeballs. (“Totes Amazeballs” is an official Tea Fancier ranking category.) I’d say that was a pretty good result. Thanks Yawn! Have a great festive season.
