Yawn Advent Calendar Day 13 – Cookie
This tea presents us with a bit of a quandary. We already had ‘Santa’s Milk and Cookies’ (SMAC) on Day 3. Here we have ‘Cookie’ sans milk. Except I added milk to my cuppa, which I think should make it indistinguishable from the other one.
It’s not, of course. Despite both being black tea blends, the two teas do have different ingredients. SMAC had saffron, sumac berries and red plum petals. Cookie contains black tea, cornflowers, jasmine, rose petals and natural flavourings.
I’ve mentioned it before, but I do think that the natural flavourings part of the ingredients list is doing a lot of the work in Yawn’s teas. Without those, this would be a floral black tea number. The cookie-ness must be coming from somewhere. Because it really is a cookie-ish sort of tea. I can’t recall how much it differs from SMAC. It would be nice to a side-by-side comparison.
I did say that SMAC tasted like Jammie Dodgers. I’d say this one was more like a custard cream. There’s certainly an awful lot of vanilla going on here for something that apparently doesn’t have vanilla in it.
I do like it, but I dunno, I think I’m getting Yawn tea fatigue at this point. A lot of their teas seem to taste very similar. Not just the other cookie one. I’m pretty sure Pumpkin Whoopie and Pancake Stack were not altogether different. I’m giving this one four stars because it is certainly no worse than the others. But I think I’m ready to have my socks blown off by something new and unexpected. Go on, Yawn, surprise me!
