Yawn Advent Calendar Day 16 – Eggnog
I didn’t do my Advent Calendar review yesterday because it was some fruity, chamomile-y bit of nonsense that I was definitely going to hate. So I decided to skip it. I can do that. I am master of my own destiny and whatnot.
Today’s tea is a whole different kettle of ballparks. Window 16 of the Yawn advent calendar has presented me with Eggnog, a blend of black tea, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and natural flavourings. This is much more up my street. It’s a cosy Masala Chai-esque affair. The website says that this blend is best brewed as “a lattea with hot frothed milk” and I daresay they’re onto something. I did mine using the standard boiling hot water steeping method with a dash of milk at the end and it was still pretty wonderful.

Even if you drink it without milk, it still tastes really creamy which is no doubt some scientifically clever business concocted by the natural flavourings engineers. Normally I like my spicy chais as spicy and punchy as possible, but I found myself really loving this creamy, ever-so-slightly sweet, low-key spice version. Eggnog tea is my new favourite Yawn Brew. Sorry, Chocolate Cake, you’ve just been ousted from the Number One spot.
