Yawn’s Ice Cream Earl Grey: Not what I was anticipating

My Score

Yawn Advent Calendar Day 20 – Earl Grey Ice Cream

Today’s advent tea is Ice Cream Earl Grey. I’ve wanted to try this one since I first spotted it on Yawn’s website in October. I’m really pleased it was one of the advent teas. Mostly because it means I haven’t wasted my money buying a full pack of it.

Yawn Brew Ice Cream Earl Grey

Ice Cream Earl Grey is a huge disappointment. It’s not unpleasant to drink. It’s actually quite a nice Earl Grey. But that’s all it is. There’s nothing ice cream-y going on at all here. I want creaminess! I want vanilla! I want something that’s a lot more party-ish than what I got.

This tea is less like ice cream than Bird & Blend’s Earl Grey Crème and the Tea Keepers Earl Grey & Vanilla, and those ones weren’t even pretending to be something from the dessert menu.

If someone had handed me this tea without comment, I would have just accepted it as an Earl Grey without comment. But they didn’t. There was hype. There was anticipation. This would have been a four-star tea, but I’m knocking a star off because it feels like a big letdown.
