Yawn Advent Calendar Day 19 – Pear Cinnabon

I didn’t post my review of Pear Cinnabon, the 19th tea of the Yawn advent calendar yesterday, so I’m playing catch-up. You know there are people over on Instagram who are reviewing three or four tea advent calendars daily. I don’t know how they manage it.

Mind you, I’m still way above the national average for number of advent teas reviewed per day. There are some people out there not reviewing any advent teas. Some of them may not even have a hot-beverage-themed calendar. I do concede that they may have other things going on in their lives, however.

Yawn's Pear Cinnabon rooibos

Pear Cinnabon is a blend of rooibos, cinnamon, apple, pear, blackberry leaves, safflower, lily and natural flavours. And it does indeed taste like a combination of all of them. Well, the first four things at least. But I’m sure everything else is making a worthwhile combination too.

Lilies are a bit of an unusual ingredient for a tea-type blend, aren’t they? My first reaction on reading the ingredients list was, “Wait, aren’t they poisonous?” But I think I may have been thinking of cats. (Lilies being poisonous to cats, that it. Not cats been poisonous to humans. Unless they want to be.)

I know lily-of-the-valley is poisonous. I love rose and violet flavoured teas so I always feel it’s a shame that you can never have a lily-of-the-valley one to complete the full Yardley Soap set.

Anyway, I’ve looked it up. It seems that some lilies are toxic and some aren’t. (Non-toxic lilies are used in Chinese and Taiwanese cooking.) I assume that Yawn Brew have done their research on the matter.
