Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference – Raspberry Infused Earl Grey
Wow, when Sainsbury’s say that their ‘Limited Edition’ Taste the Difference tea blends are limited edition, they really mean it.
I bought this Sainsburys Taste the Difference Limited Edition Raspberry Infused Earl Grey tea not that long ago, and now there’s no sign of it on Sainsbury’s website. In fact, I haven’t found evidence of its existence on the internet anywhere. I went into Sainsbury’s actual bricks-and-mortar shop yesterday, and there was no sign of it there either. If I didn’t have a box of it sitting right in front of me, I’d assume I dreamt it.
Maybe this is evidence of The Mandela Effect. The Mandela Effect is this thing when parallel realities happen to cross paths accidentally. It is used by nutcases to explain why they believed Nelson Mandela died in prison in the 1970s and that Walkers cheese and onion crisps used to be green. (Slipping into alternate realities being a much more likely explanation than just muddling them up with Steve Biko and Golden Wonder.)
So, clearly, I was living in a reality where Sainsbury’s Earl Grey existed, but now I’ve slipped into this alternate one where it never happened.
It’s a shame that you will be unable to get your hands on it because it really is rather nice. (Unless my tea reviews travel across multiple dimensions, which seems likely, now I think about it.) I was quite rude about Sainsbury’s previous foray into the specialist Earl Grey market. I dismissed their Grapefruit Infused Earl Grey as a step too far in the Earl Grey innovation field.
So it’s weird that I like this one because this tea contains raspberry, bergamot, hibiscus and lemon and is several steps further removed from the original Earl Grey vision than one with a bit of grapefruit in it.
But I do like it. It’s fun and lively and pairs nicely with a splash of milk. (Or soy-based not-milk, should you favour, as I do, that sort of thing.
Of course, there’s the slight problem that I am not sure it actually exists. It is both here and not here. It is the Schroedinger’s cat of raspberry-infused Earl Greys.

I tried that tea as well and have been unable to find anything similar since. I’ve become so obsessed that I have contacted Sainsbury with no much, and many tea makers.
I’m in talk with one company who is making me a sample. If it works I will let you know!
Sainsburys seem to have a whole boxful of Schroedinger’s kittens that appear for a few short weeks and then vanish like they never existed – I would like to add their Lady Rose Grey, otherwise known as Sainsbury’s Finest Rose Infused Earl Grey, which I really enjoyed for its delicate flavour, so superior to their normal Earl Grey which has gone downhill fast. I bought 3 boxes, having had an inkling that it wouldn’t be around for long, and sure enough … poof! It’s disappeared. This also happened to my all-time favourite, Twinings Rose Pouchong, some years ago – still sadly missed.
Well……..some months ago, as a well established Earl Grey drinker of many years, I spotted this box of Sainsbury’s TTD Raspberry Earl Grey, and thought why not? It stayed in the cupboard for months, and then one fine day I thought I’d give it a try. Then disaster happened! I fell in love! I even got the teapot out, and took photos of my new found happiness and sent them to my friends. You should all try this I said! Hmmmmm…… But like you’ve said, was this delicious drink a figment of my imagination?
After searching every Sainsbury’s store within my reach, I then took to Mr Google for his help. Which brings me here today!!! At least I’m comforted to know I’m not the only one who really enjoyed this tea. Albeit a very cheeky short lived pleasure. I wonder who actually manufactured this tea for Sainsbury’s? Did anyone ever find out?
I wish I hadn’t taken so long to try it, as I could have at least done a little stock pile. As a teaser, I actually have 8 bags left…..but I’m not disclosing my whereabouts for fear of a stampede. 😁😁😁
Ahhhh I am so upset!! I’m on my last 3 bags of this. Mum had it stored at the back of her cupboard for a while ‘yuck, you might like this…take it home with you’….well, I LOVE it and now I can’t find it anywhere. In fact, I’m sipping on it as I type this haha. Let’s hope it comes back soon.
