Today’s advent tea is Mistletoe And Wine. And thanks for the earworm, Bird & Blend. I now have Cliff in my head. And now, I imagine, all of you do too.
It’s another fruity one. We’ve got hibiscus, cinnamon, apple pieces, cloves, lime leaves, red peppercorns, rose hips, orange peel and sprinkles. The odd thing about this tisane is its colour. It’s an inky blue to start with and then it gets redder as it infuses.
Before checking the ingredients, I assumed that it had blue pea flowers in it, because its colour-changing performance reminded me of Bird & Blend’s Blueberry and Peach. I have no idea where the blue is coming from. Maybe the sprinkles are blue. (The decorative sprinkles effect is a bit lost when you’re having the tea in teabag form.)
It’s not bad as these things go. It tastes like hot Ribena. I suspect that this is down to the sugary sprinkles. Maybe I’d be more tolerant of all fruity tisanes if I put sugar in them.
But yeah, you know that thing I said at the start of December about how Bird & Blend should do an advent calendar that only contains Camellia sinensis brews? I still stand by that.
