Nok Yoong – Jasmine Tea
Happy belated Lunar New Year, everyone! Actually, I’m not sure my wishes are belated as the New Year festivities go on for 16 days, so I believe I can go about wishing people Kung Hai Fat Choi until the 12th of February.
It’s the God of Wealth’s birthday today, which seems a good enough reason to crack open the Nok Yoong Jasmine Tea. This beautiful tea is all bedecked with jasmine petals and comes from the Fujian province in China, which is very much the go-to place for jasmine tea.

This is an even-better-than-usual example of jasmine tea, which could be down to the fact that it’s made with white tea rather than green. Or it could be that this tea came directly from Thailand (via my daughter who was holidaying there) and therefore aimed at consumers who know what’s what in the jasmine tea department. Or maybe it’s just that Nok Yoong produce very lovely, tippy, twirly teas. I was very impressed with their Oolongs as well. Sadly, it doesn’t seem to be available for sale in the UK so you are going to have to take my word for it.
I’ve mentioned before that I have no idea what jasmine tastes like outside a tea context. I have finally bitten the bullet and put in an order for some dried jasmine flowers so that next time I try a tea like this, I will feel more equipped to recognise where the tea starts and the jasmine begins.
