Bird & Blend Advent Calendar Day 17 – Mince Pie

We’re on day 17 of Advent and the tea in my Bird & Blend advent calendar today is MINCE PIE!

Mince pies are amazing. They are the Christmassiest food there is. They are probably the Christmassiest ANY kind of thing there is. Sure, there’s Santa and tinsel and trees and Wizzard singing ‘I wish it could be Christmas every day’. There’s also Jesus’s if you’re into that sort of thing. But nothing says Christmas like a mince pie. If you’ve got some pastry-encased spiced fruit in your hand then you’re totally Doing Christmas Right.

Bird & Blend have done it proud with this Mince Pie-flavoured tea. It tastes exactly like the real thing. Uncannily so.

It tastes like someone has blitzed some mince pies in a blender, dried out the results, mixed it with some tea, and put it in a tea bag. I’d like to think that is exactly how Bird & Blend actually makes it, but the ingredients tell me that it is, in fact, made from Sri Lankan black tea, cinnamon, almond pieces, orange peel, red cornflowers and natural flavouring.

No matter how they came by it, the result is a cup of unparalleled festive awesomeness. It’s going straight to Number 1 in my tea ranking. My only worry is that Bird & Blend – by having this in the 17 box rather than holding it back for the 24th – may have peaked too early. It can’t possibly get any more Christmassy than this.
